Galle: Saud Shakeel and Agha Salman’s responsible batting put the Shaheens on track on the third day of the Galle Test between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

The third day of the first Test between Pakistan and Sri Lanka started at the Galle International Cricket Stadium.

The match in Galle started after a rain delay, Pakistan scored 313 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the first innings.

At the start of the third day of the Galle Test, Saud Shakeel completed a century while Agha Salman was out of the team after scoring 83 runs. Saudi Shakeel completed his century in 129 balls.

On the second day of the Galle Test between Pakistan and Sri Lanka, Pakistan scored 221 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in response to Sri Lanka’s 312 runs.

When the second day’s play started yesterday, Sri Lanka increased the score by 70 runs, the Sri Lankan team was dismissed for 312 runs in the first innings.

Dhananjaya De Silva played a brilliant innings and scored 122 runs with the help of 12 fours and 3 sixes. For Pakistan, Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, and Abrar Ahmed took 3, 3 while Agha Salman took one wicket.

On the other hand, Pakistan’s innings did not start well, with Abdullah Shafiq 19, Imamul Haq 1, captain Babar Azam 13, and Sarfraz Ahmed could only score 17 runs and Shan Masood could score 39 runs.

Later, Saud Shakeel and Agha Salman showed responsible batting and took the team’s score to 221 while the match had to be stopped due to rain last day.

First day of play

In the Test match played in Galle, Sri Lankan captain Dimuth Karunaratne won the toss and elected to bat first. At the end of the first day’s play, Sri Lanka scored 242 runs for the loss of 6 wickets.

Middle-order batsman Dhananjaya De Silva and veteran Angelo Mathews were outstanding for Sri Lanka as they bowled out 65.4 overs on day one, twice in rain.

On the first day of play, Shaheen Shah Afridi dismissed 3 players while Naseem Shah, Abrar Ahmed, and Agha Salman dismissed one player each.

It should be noted that the second match of the two-Test series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka will start on July 24 in Colombo.
