Who is the mayor of Karachi? Verdict Today, PP and Jamaat-e-Islami expect tough competition

Karachi: The polling process for the election of Mayor and Deputy Mayor has started in Karachi.

Tough competition is expected between People’s Party’s Murtaza Wahab and Jamaat-e-Islami’s Hafiz Naeem for Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Karachi.

Karachi’s Arts Council Auditorium has been declared as the polling station where around 303 candidates are present.

According to the Election Commission, the election process will be done by show of hands, 246 elected chairmen and 121 reserved seats will be voted for, the arrested city council members have also been directed to be brought for voting.

Election Commissioner Sindh says that there will be police inside and outside the polling station, and RO and DRO have the powers of the magistrate.

According to the police officials, no one is allowed to enter the polling station except the Election Commission staff.

184 seats will be required to get the post of mayor, currently, the number of members of the People’s Party in the city council is 155, Jamaat-e-Islami 130, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) 62, Muslim League (N) 155. Is. N) 14, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) has 4 and Tehreek-e-Labaik Pakistan (TLP) has 1 seat.

In a House of 366, a majority of the members present in the hall are necessary to elect the mayor. PPP has the support of Non-League and JUI, thus their total number of voters is 173.

The combined membership of Jamaat-e-Islami and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is 192, which was enough to win the mayoral seat, but some PTI candidates have announced not to vote, which could change the situation.

The Interior Ministry has approved the deployment of Rangers for the elections and a statement issued by the Interior Ministry said that the Sindh Rangers will be deployed as a quick response force for the election of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor.
