Lahore High Court Orders to Release Yasmin Rashid

Dr Yasim Rashid Released - Orders from Lahore High Court

Yasmin Rashid, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has been ordered to be released “immediately” by the Lahore High Court (LHC), which issued this directive on Saturday.

The judge postponed her detention from earlier today while considering a plea for Yasmin Rashid’s release.

The Lahore High Court ruled that she should be released if she is not needed in any criminal proceedings.

In the appeal, it was alleged that Dr Yasmin Rashid was unlawfully detained since his name was omitted from a first information report submitted to the Sarwar Road police station.

Authorities detained the PTI leader on Friday.

“Dr. Yasmin Rashid, PTI’s Iron Lady, was taken into custody! They believe that these arrests would put an end to this movement, but they are unaware of how Pakistan has altered irrevocably. All of us are now Imran Khan,” the PTI tweeted.

Shireen Mazari, the PTI leader, was also taken into custody by law authorities along with Rashid.

She was detained after National Accountability Bureau (NAB) detained PTI Chairman Imran Khan on Tuesday.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Asad Umar, Fawad Chaudhry, Jamshed Iqbal Cheema, Falaknaz Chitrali, Musarrat Jamshed Cheema, Maleeka Bokhari, Ijaz Chaudhry, and Ali Mohammad Khan were among the PTI leaders detained by the authorities.

According to the Islamabad Police, the arrests were made as part of a calculated threat to disrupt the peace for instigating violence and burning.

Following compliance with legal regulations, all of these leaders were detained. The police issued a warning that further arrests were anticipated.

Since protests began in Pakistan, about 2,000 people have been detained and at least eight people have died, according to

Hundreds of demonstrators attacked and set fire to government buildings, police cars, and other public vehicles while rampaging through military sites. They also blocked key roads, access and departure points to all major cities.

Imran was ordered to be released right away on Thursday after the Supreme Court of Pakistan ruled that his arrest was illegal. The PTI chairman was granted bail by the Islamabad High Court on Friday, preventing any further arrests of him until May 17.
