
Police arrest truck driver involved in Thatta crash.

KARACHI: Nine picnickers from Karachi were killed after a vehicle they were travelling in crashed with a van in Thatta. Police have now detained the truck’s driver.
Driver Mohammad Raees, according to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Adil Chandio, possessed a learner’s permit.
SSP Chandio stated that action is also being taken against the owner of the vehicle, adding that “the initial investigations indicate that the accident occurred due to the negligence of the truck driver.”
After the collision, the truck driver who was at fault left the area.
SSP Chandio revealed that all nine of the individuals were pals from the same Karachi neighborhood.
Nine picnickers were murdered and several more were wounded the day before when a vehicle carrying them collided with a truck on the Hyderabad-Thatta Road close to Chilya.
After having a picnic at Keenjhar Lake, the group was travelling back to Landhi, Karachi, in a Suzuki van when the event occurred, murdering eight people there and then. After being transferred to a hospital in Thatta, one of the injured passed away from his injuries.
Police and locals arrived to the scene shortly after the tragedy to rescue the victims, but they encountered difficulties owing to a shortage of supplies because the victims were trapped in the wrecked truck.
All of the casualties were afterwards transferred to a Thatta hospital by the rescuers. Volunteers arrived at the hospital in the meanwhile to give blood to the injured patients.
It was possible to identify five of the deceased—Abdullah, Qaisar, Tasbeehullah, Wahab, and Noorullah—while the identities of the remaining four remained unknown.
The deputy commissioner Thatta has been instructed by the chief minister of Sindh Murad Ali Shah to ensure that the injured have access to medical care. Additionally, he gave the DC instructions to arrange for the remains to be transported to Karachi.
